Our Mission

Lucy’s Legacy Farm

Mission Statement and Accomplishments

Mission Statement:

At Lucy’s Legacy Farm our mission is to protect the bond between people and their pets-regardless of their circumstances.  We will provide compassionate support to our community by assisting with veterinary care costs, offering temporary foster homes for dogs belonging to families experiencing homelessness, and ensuring that no animal  is left behind due to financial hardship.  Through advocacy, care and connection, we strive to keep pets and their people together, where they belong.

Accomplishments:

Since the formation of Lucy’s Legacy Farm, we have fostered four adult dogs, an older puppy and five newborn puppies.

Henry, the older puppy, was our first rescue.  He came to us after he was left by his original owner.  He was with us for about six weeks.  While he was at Lucy’s Legacy Farm, Henry had his medical needs met, he was loved and cared for by the rescue.  Lucy’s Legacy Farms was very selective in finding Henry his forever family, but eventually we found him the perfect home.  He was placed with a family who had lost their very loved pet and was ready for a new dog.  Henry is now receiving all the love and care that all dogs should receive.  He is growing, thriving, and living his best life.

Diesel and Stormie and their five newborn puppies came to Lucy’s Legacy Farm just before Thanksgiving of 2024 because their original family experienced some personal issues.  Lucy’s Legacy Farm saved them from an old camper where they had not heat and brought them to the rescue.  The smallest puppy weighed 1.7 pounds when we took them in..  We cared for, nursed and weened the puppies until they were old enough to be separated from their mother.

While they were in our care, all the puppies’ medical needs were taken care of by the rescue. Both adult dogs received medical care and were spayed and neutered.  Lucy’s Legacy Farm paid for all of their medical care.

When the puppies were able to be place, we found all of the puppies wonderful and loving homes.  All the puppies are thriving and living good lives.  After about six months, Diesel and Stormie were reunited with their original family.  Following their tearful reunion, the owners are back on their feet and the family and the dogs are doing well.

Currently, Lucy’s Legacy Farm is the home to Petey and Onyx.  Petey and Onyx have come to live at the rescue because their owner lost her home in a very contentious divorce and had to move to a location where she could not take them.  Petey and Onyx are senior dogs and were very nervous because they had always been with their mom.  All are hopeful that their mother will get back on her feet and be able to take them home.  Until she is able, they will be cared for and loved in their retirement at Lucy’s Legacy Farms.
